Anyone got a miracle cure for a cough?
Ive had this dreaded cough or 2 months now and its becoming really annoying, have been to the doctor and they have given me anti-biotics but to no avail. And the cold weather is making it worse...
Anyone who cures my cough will be a friend for a while...lets say 2 months :-)
Graham Kennedy dies
Most of you outside Australia wont have heard, but a TV icon that I and many other Australians of my generation, grew up with, sadly died this morning.
As a kid I used to love watching his adlib approach to live television on IMT (In Melbourne Tonight) and advertisers queued to have their products sent up or destroyed on camera by him. You just can't imagine today's marketers being able to handle his style of corporate terrorism.
Also as a very young child I did meet him and his sidekick Bert Newton at a local fair near the family home.
In recent years he became a recluse and opted to turn his back on Australian Television, to live a quiet life in Bowral (in New South Wales). He suffered a bad fall a few years ago that effected his health.
So at 71 the legendary Graham Kennedy has left us.
Revenge of the Sith - Is Gerald a Jedi? I think not!
Last night we saw
Star Wars, Episode 3 -Revenge of the Sith, as usual the opening scene starts with a humungus spacecraft entering the screen and loads of craft engaging in a cacophony of laser battles. This time you feel you are part of the battle, the effects are so well done you actually feel the G-forces as you sit in the cinemas seats.
I wont give much away, but it is really worth the watch, all the mising links are filled and gives you a thorough understanding why Darth became such an evil villian.

Lots of toys for the boy
This week I have added a few more gadgets to my collection of goodies.
Firstly I have a MK-225C keyboard that I can now use with my Yamaha DX7 to do my music (synthesizers, for the unaquanted), and now I feel a bit like Keith Emerson or a Rick Wakeman.
Then yesterday after a much anticipated wait, my Motorola RAZR V3 arrived! And I have since synced it up with everything here.
I also bought a Motorola HS810 Bluetooth headset that works well with the phone, it also works well in iChat too. So I can sit on a comfy couch now and chat whilst everyone else is sitting on their hard uncomfortable computer chairs....Well thats what I hope is what its like at the other end.
Whinge time
I have a had a gut full of our telecommunications companies in this country.
All I am after is for a transfer from one carrier to another, and it has taken a total of 9 phone calls with the person on the end of the phone telling me different stories.
Now wonder our telecomunications industry is in the shit here!
I would hate to get anything more complex done in future.
Spring cleaning in winter and Dog coats
Today I ordered a 6 cubic metre bin, to totally clean my garage and junk room/s.
It gives me the chance to get things organised.
...Damn!! I say, as I find the hammer I was looking for 2 months ago, I could not find it anywhere, when I really needed it, so I bought another! Oh well I have 2 now.
I also bought 2 new coats for my dogs, one is xtra large and the other is large.
Now, lets put them on the dogs....drat! the Xtra large doesnt fit Lucy the bigger dog, OK lets try it on Gemma, ah that fits, but is a little big on her...oh well! Lucy has to keep the old coat on till i find an xxtra large one for her.
Quicker Internet (We hope)
Fingers crossed, but I hope to have a quicker internet speed by the end of this month.
My Cable which is though Optusnet is an impressive 2.5Mbps, but a shithouse 128kbps upload speed, which means that any videochatting in iChat is very blurry, and any files I send end up taking forever to leave my machine.
It is claimed that with the right telephone exchange I can get 8Mbps and an impressive 1MBps upload speed.
So if you do the Maths on this then, it means the new ADSL line will be 3.2 times quicker on the download and 7.8125 times quicker uploading.
The myth that cable is quicker is soon quashed on the head if you look at my sums.
Come on Australia!! Lift your game with cable!

Well looks like Im getting a new
RAZR V3 delivered to me in the next few days.
Bluetooth will allow me to sync things like addresses, phone numbers etc to my Macs, iPod and Palm device.
They better provide me with bluetooth headset too, otherwise i will be bewy angwy!

Earlier versions of DiskWarrior, while not compatible with Tiger, will not harm your disk. Attempting to rebuild a disk with DiskWarrior 3.0.2 or earlier, while started from Tiger, will result in an error stating that a "Mac OS Services" failure occurred.

Wrapping Wars
Now I ask you, who would you consider using to wrap your presents in future?
The "Wrapping War" is on!
My new age aesthetic pleasing (well in my eyes) attempt at present wrapping, on left, may take the retail stores by storm. Whereas the traditional method on right, is too neat, doesnt show much character! and is far too conservative for many people!
The wrapping on left also comes with all discarded rubbish which is a real bonus, wheras the the one on right comes with package only and NO extras.
So keep that in mind when you choose the one for your next wrapping exercise.

Well its the night before I visit my Mum! And I'm about to write on her card and wrap her present up.
Kath assures me that if I write in the card with a gold pen that it may clash with my Mum's jewelery, so Ive gone the silver.
Man! tieing that decorative bow on top of the wrapping is so hard! How does anyone do it properly!
Anyway its a case of visiting my wonderful mother-in-law too, and taking her out to lunch with the family first, then afterwards the trip down the road to see Kitty-Malone (A nickname my brother calls her and it stuck.
Well happy Mothers Day to all you Mummys out there...not the Egyptian ones though!
Video conferencing with the all new iChat 3AV

That is the reaction you get as each person joins your 4 way video conference!
Each person also yells out to their spouse "Quick honey have a look at this!"
The night I did it this was with two Americans (one who I have known now through iChat for a few months now) and a Londoner from the UK.
Before hand I had an 5 way audio chat with people from US, Australia, UK and Greece, that in itself was amazing, but at times it did get confusing as the delays were so great, that once you started to speak you heard a voice interupt you.
Anyway there is a lot to be said about the way we communicate nowadays, and iChat 3 is leading the way we do it.

I do actually! Kath and I are huge fans of this show
(Home and Away) and in the past few months the story line has been good (apart from a few weak episodes that have been ruined due to poor casting of newbie actors). I honestly thought Dan was the stalker as he really had no background to him and always looked suspicious! Yeah, yeah, I hear ya, but i want to rant on about this!
Another thought was Josie was really her twin cousin Angie! Yeah, Yeah...settle down, i know this is far fetched!! but, i really thought Angies death was staged, and that this dark secret that Josie had was going to.......OK!
